The Russell Home for Atypical Children

The Russell Home for Atypical Children in Orlando has been in continuous operation for over 60 years without any government support. The Home is the only private, non-profit facility of its kind for severely disabled children in Central Florida. The Russell Home provides around the clock specialized care, with love and a home-like atmosphere. The home has opened its doors to hundreds of youngsters, sometimes after hearing pleas from desperate parents, and in more than one instance, finding them just left on the doorstep.

A central tenet of the Russell Home is to encourage each and every child to develop to his or her highest potential. We celebrate the efforts and accomplishments of every child here in our home, and as a result the children demonstrate pride in their own personal achievements.
